Tinnitus

Tinnitus is the name for the condition when you hear a constant ringing, humming or ‘buzzing’ in your ears.

Sometimes it can be associated with a spinning or dizzy sensation and can be the result of a nerve problem in your ear.

Most people will experience a degree of Tinnitus at some point throughout their life – it can be very common after a loud music event – but it usually only lasts a few hours.

Unfortunately, some people have to endure permanent Tinnitus and it can be very frustrating and distracting in everyday life. If you feel that you suffer from some enduring form of Tinnitus, Bryce Hearing Services can assess your hearing and help find a hearing aid solution that can help.

The British Tinnitus Association has created a new online resource for those suffering with this condition – https://www.takeontinnitus.co.uk/#home. This is a new website aimed at people experiencing Tinnitus. Although it is targeted at people who have just begun to experience tinnitus, it is suitable for anyone at any stage of living with the condition. One in ten of UK adults have tinnitus and there are approximately 750,000 GP consultations about tinnitus in England alone each year. We hope that Take on Tinnitus will be particularly useful for people who are either waiting to see their GP, or who have been to their GP and are then waiting for a referral to hospital or have been told to make another appointment if the Tinnitus continues.

The site is designed so it can be used on mobile phones, tablets or computers. After an initial taster session, there are seven learning modules covering: the fundamentals of tinnitus, hearing and tinnitus, benefits of using sound, the link between tinnitus and relaxation, the benefits of talking about it and living your life with tinnitus. Each module takes just 10-15 minutes to complete and includes a range of interactive exercises, video clips and self-tests all designed to keep users engaged in their learning.

  Went for an earwax removal this morning. I was firstly warmly welcomed into the comfortable waiting area where I also had the privilege of meeting bear the dog! It wasn’t long at all until I was seen, and the man who did the removal could not have been friendlier, more helpful or more reassuring. I was spoken through every step of the process (which in total took a maximum of ten minutes!!) and all of my questions were answered with the upmost professionalism. My wax proved slightly ‘sticky’ so water irrigation was opted for, and the relief I felt when my ears became functional again was second to none! Thank you all so much. Cannot recommend enough.

  Our 15 year old autistic son had concerns with the hearing in his right ear, and it was causing him anxiety and preventing him from concentrating on his studies. We struggled to find somewhere that would conduct a hearing test due to his age until we came across Bryce Hearing. They saw him within 24 hours, treated him with respect, clearly explained what was happening throughout and put his mind at ease. He left knowing that his hearing was fine and that the issue was likely a residual effect of a cold from a number of weeks previously. We could not have been happier with the service we received and would highly recommend Bryce Hearing to anybody who has hearing related concerns, especially for those with children or young adults who may not be served by major high street companies.

  I have recently been trialing new hearing aids and naturally there have been a few hiccups along the way, but Jayne was sp patient and professional.
