This test requires headphones and only takes about 3 minutes to complete. While it does not replace a professional hearing test performed in a sound proof booth by an audiologist, it can provide some quick and useful feedback about your hearing.

Once you have completed the test you will be given the option to request an appointment with our audiologist, Jayne Bryce, who will examine your ears, perform an accurate hearing test in our sound-proof booth and explain the results.

What to expect at your Hearing Test appointment

First of all we will listen to you. We would always recommend that you bring someone close to you along to your appointment as it they can often provide useful information.

We want to know how you feel about your hearing and when you feel that you might be struggling.

We will ask some medical related questions so that we have a good understanding of your general health and history.

Next we will examine your ears.

We have the latest technology and can show you images of your ears on screen if you are interested. If you have any wax in your ears we are able to gently remove that for you so that we get the most accurate test results.

We will test the quietest sounds that you are able to hear, check that your middle ear is functioning correctly and also test how well you are able to understand speech. At Bryce Hearing Services we have a soundproof booth which means that we can test how well you are hearing with your hearing aids in if necessary.

We will discuss all the results thoroughly and answer any questions that you may have. We also have strong links with one of Scotland’s leading ear nose and throat consultants Bill McKerrow, so if you need a medical referral – you are in the safest of hands.

If appropriate we can make a recommendation on next steps and organise for you to have a free trial of one of our hearing aids. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase, our main concern is to ensure that your ears are healthy and that you have all the facts you need to hand.

  Went for an earwax removal this morning. I was firstly warmly welcomed into the comfortable waiting area where I also had the privilege of meeting bear the dog! It wasn’t long at all until I was seen, and the man who did the removal could not have been friendlier, more helpful or more reassuring. I was spoken through every step of the process (which in total took a maximum of ten minutes!!) and all of my questions were answered with the upmost professionalism. My wax proved slightly ‘sticky’ so water irrigation was opted for, and the relief I felt when my ears became functional again was second to none! Thank you all so much. Cannot recommend enough.

  Our 15 year old autistic son had concerns with the hearing in his right ear, and it was causing him anxiety and preventing him from concentrating on his studies. We struggled to find somewhere that would conduct a hearing test due to his age until we came across Bryce Hearing. They saw him within 24 hours, treated him with respect, clearly explained what was happening throughout and put his mind at ease. He left knowing that his hearing was fine and that the issue was likely a residual effect of a cold from a number of weeks previously.
