Tinnitus

Tinnitus is the name for the condition when you hear a constant ringing, humming or ‘buzzing’ in your ears.

Sometimes it can be associated with a spinning or dizzy sensation and can be the result of a nerve problem in your ear.

Most people will experience a degree of Tinnitus at some point throughout their life – it can be very common after a loud music event – but it usually only lasts a few hours.

The British Tinnitus Association has created a new online resource for those suffering with this condition – https://www.takeontinnitus.co.uk/#home.  This is a new website aimed at people experiencing Tinnitus. Although it is targeted at people who have just begun to experience tinnitus, it is suitable for anyone at any stage of living with the condition. One in ten of UK adults have tinnitus and there are approximately 750,000 GP consultations about tinnitus in England alone each year. We hope that Take on Tinnitus will be particularly useful for people who are either waiting to see their GP, or who have been to their GP and are then waiting for a referral to hospital or have been told to make another appointment if the Tinnitus continues.
