Mr Lambe attended the Aberdeen Hearing Show in November 2016. He was very dissatisfied with the reliability of his present hearing aids and the services he was receiving from the company he purchased them from.
Mr Lambe has had hearing loss since childhood but it has deteriorated to a severe/profound level in the last few years.
We decided to fit him with the Phonak V90 Naida UP with custom shells; this is what he has reported to us over the last 6 weeks:
“I have always had a hearing deficiency due to family hereditary reasons. I have used several different types of hearing aids, which provided some assistance but these Phonak devices are providing me with a very considerable improvement in hearing ability and confidence.
The following aspects have greatly enhanced my quality of hearing and way of life not just for me but for my wife also. The devices are very comfortable to wear and unobtrusive. I have found I am no longer troubled with condensation in the tubing, they are also easy to operate and adjust.
I am now hearing sounds which I had never heard before even with good quality hearing aids. While I could previously hear music I can now hear many components of it such as individual instruments is an orchestra or band, vocalists and choirs.
I can hear what people are saying in ‘close up’ conversations – I no longer have to guess what they have said. Understanding a conversation when people speak behind me such as in a back seat/front seat car situation is so much easier and I can now understand indirect conversations from invisible sources. Hearing telephones, doorbells, alarms and tannoys (which can be understood) is no longer a problem. I’ve found I can now differentiate between different sounds simultaneously – hearing bath water, noise in traffic, noise when walking along between a river and a road. Rain drops on the car roof is a noise I have never appreciated before!
